Giovanni Scagnoli

Giovanni Scagnoli was born in Sarnano (Macerata, Italy), where he currently lives and works in the area known as Contrada Vecciola.

He attended the School of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, obtaining his Diploma in Painting under the guidance of his master Remo Brindisi.

Scagnoli started teaching anatomical drawing at the Macerata Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, where he also teaches drawing, elements of morphology and dynamics of form, and where he is professor of figure drawing (Scuola libera del nudo).

Being an excellent painter, sculptor, installer and engraver, besides teaching Scagnoli also pursues artistic research. The beginning of his artistic career dates back to the 1970s. However, Scagnoli has constantly showed the ability to transform and renew his art over time. His great dedication has led him to hold exhibitions in various Italian cities, among which Rome, Padua, Milan, Reggio Emilia, Taormina, Bari, Caserta and of course in his region, Le Marche. His artworks have also been selected by eminent artistic and scientific committees. Moreover, some of them are part of important private and public collections in Italy (Ferrara, Turin, La Spezia, Macerata) and abroad (Paris, Geneva, Canada, Arab Emirates).

One of the most recent exhibitions to which he participated is: Dimora del tempo (Torre Civica – Gualdo 2015), Germinazioni (Musei Civici di Palazzo Buonaccorsi, Macerata 2015), Artisti per il Giubileo (Galleria La Pigna, Roma 2015), L’Italia degli artisti: dalla 56° Biennale di Venezia al Giubileo della Misericordia. Talenti e Maestri a Confronto (Fondazione Venanzo Crocetti, Roma 2016), Celebrazione dell’estetica paradisiaca (Camera dei deputati, Roma 2016), Aeterna. Exhibition triennale di arti visive (Vittoriano, Roma 2017), 2° Biennale del dialogo dei Castelli della Gera D’Adda (Castello visconteo di Pagazzano, 2017), Premio The best modern and contemporary artists (Berlino 2017), Award Estetica Paradisiaca (Roma 2017), Grazie Italia, 57° International Art Exhibition Biennale di Venezia, Pavilion Guatemala (Palazzo Albrizzi Capello, Venezia, 2017), May You Live In Interesting Times, 58° partecipates International Art Exhibition of Venice, Grenada National Pavilion 2019.
